DER Touristik Develops a Hygiene Concept to Relaunch its Hotels Following the Corona Crisis
Comprehensive catalogue of recommendations for maximum safety and quick reopening
DER Touristik is preparing to relaunch its travel programme following the corona crisis. This also includes adapting the rules on distance and hygiene throughout the entire trip in order to best ensure that guests are protected against infection with the coronavirus. DER Touristik Hotels & Resorts (DTHR), the hotel business of DER Touristik, has developed a concept to raise awareness among employees, guests and partners of its own hotel brands Sentido, Iti, Calimera, Primasol, COOEE and Playitas. This is intended to enable the reopening of hotels as soon as national and international regulations permit.
The DTHR concept is based on recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO), and well-known hygiene companies with which DER Touristik already cooperates in the destinations. DER Touristik also relies on the expertise and advice of the renowned analytical laboratory run by Dr Andreas Kneißler. The DTHR is therefore preparing its hotels to implement national hygiene standards that are adapted to the corona crisis. “We are conscious of our responsibility for relaunching the extensive value chain of tourist hotels, with their guests, employees and partners, and want to use this awareness raising document to ensure that the relaunch for our hotels takes place as quickly and seamlessly as possible”, says Christian Grage, Managing Director of DER Touristik Hotels & Resorts.
Besides upgraded disinfectant plans, the concept also recommends spatial adjustments in hotel communal areas: Here, for example, distances between seating areas are to be increased and, where necessary, receptions will be equipped with protective barriers made of plexiglass. In the restaurant areas, instead of buffets, alternative forms of catering are recommended in order to comply with the adapted rules on distance and hygiene. The DTHR also recommends that its hotels entrust one employee with primary responsibility for monitoring the new standards throughout the hotel´s operations.
“The protection of our guests and employees is top priority for us. Our concept is a far-reaching, living document making it possible for our hoteliers worldwide to provide this protection as optimally and quickly as possible, and to thus comply with official regulations at the respective destination”, explains Christian Grage. DER Touristik is in constant close cooperation with the national and international authorities for the purpose of developing the document and relaunching its travel business.
